What is Thread Lifting?
This is a new, innovative technique of face rejuvenation, which offers the benefit of a non-surgical intervention and therefore, it only requires a short period of recuperation. The material consists of biodegradable threads that have long been used in surgery.
During this procedure, threads are inserted into the deeper connective tissues. They attach themselves in the subcutaneous tissue and if positioned properly they create a tension into the desired direction. This creates a mild stretch of the subcutaneous tissue and the skin, which is firmed up after a few days by the natural increase in connective tissue (fibrosing).
Local anaesthesia is used for the treatment and the threads are absorbed after a certain time depending on the material. Additional threads can be placed at any time. Therefore, there is a method available, which allows lifting the skin and tightening the hypodermis significantly with minimal effort for some time and nearly risk-free.
Compared to conventional face lifting, thread lifting offers the patients benefits. It means less stress because this intervention is significantly smaller. There are no visible scars and healing is generally very quick. Additional benefits of the procedure: It takes little time (only approx. 15 to 40 minutes). 20-30 minutes prior to the treatment anaesthesia needs to be applied.; it has a low risk of pain and inflammation.
The result is seen immediately after the intervention.
Areas of application?
Depending on the consultation and the treatment area, different kinds of threads and treatment techniques can be used. The areas of the face and the body that can be treated are:
Who is it for?
Thread lifting is suitable for women and men starting from the age of
30 who prefer a rejuvenation of their looks by tightening and firming
the skin and/ or by having a minimally invasive lift.
It is NOT suitable for:
- Patients who wish to have an excessive lift
- Patients with excessive sagging skin
- Patients with excessive loss of fatty tissue in the face or the neck
- Patients who are hypersensitive to the thread material
- Patients who have infections or acute inflammations in the skin
regions to be treated (acne, herpes, etc.)
- Patients suffering from an autoimmune disease and/or receiving
- Pregnant and nursing women
- Patients with a tendency to form hypertrophic scars
- Patients suffering from cancer
- Patients below the age of 18
What can I expect during consultation?
Before the treatment you have the opportunity of a personal consultation with our. Here you can talk about the treatment in general as well as the respective risks and possibilities. Furthermore, you can state your own wishes and expectations.
After the consultation there will be an examination of the area/areas that are to be treated. Our doctor will examine your skin and skin elasticity in order to investigate more in detail. She will answer any questions you may have.
What to expect during the procedure
The area of treatment is locally anesthetized and then the absorbable thread is inserted into the tissue. The type and the number of threads that are to be applied will be discussed with you beforehand.
By this minimally invasive procedure new connective tissue is build up around the thread so that the skin gets firmer and tighter. Certain types of threads can also lift the facial tissue to its original position. This new and gentle method leaves neither wounds nor scars.
The threads are absorbed after a certain time depending on the type of the thread. The results will be visible for a longer period. Your doctor can give you more detailed information on this.
What to expect after treatment
There are different kinds of threads for different needs. These threads have generally a skin supporting, tightening and brightening function. Depending on the type of thread used the result can also range to lifting and reshaping.
The length and the degree of the effect is varying depending on the thread type. Your doctor will be happy to explain this further.
Is anaesthesia necessary for this treatment?
Only local anaesthesia is required.
How long does the treatment take
Duration: approx. 15 to 40 minutes, depending on the treatment area.
When are the results of the treatment visible
The results are visible immediately after the treatment; the full effect can be seen 3 to 4 weeks later.
Durability of the results
The durability depends on the type of the threads that are used. Please consult us for more information.
Is there downtime after the treatment
Downtime: approx. 0 to 3 days, depending on the treatment.
What are the side effects of this treatment
Immediately after the treatment, swelling and temporary pain may occur. If you apply an ice pack on the area, the swelling will be reduced/disappear quickly.
Please inform us if any inflammation or other adverse event lasts for more than one week. It offers us the opportunity to treat you appropriately.
